Have a SPLENDID season!

As the cold weather approaches, many people get excited for snow days, holiday cheer or mistletoe, but I get excited for the CLOTHES!! While perusing the racks in Bloomingdales, I ended up in the holiday section amidst the bright patterns, sequins and glitz! I found the most adorable pair of Marc by Marc Jacobs black leggings with gold studs going up the sides that are perfect for tucking into boots! And, they also come in this amazing charcoal grey!! BUT, the best find of the day was an adorable swing top by SPLENDID, in a chic leopard print!! It is classy not tacky, and shows a tad bit of shoulder before going into an elbow length sleeve. This top will look great over a long, tight-black tank top with leggings and big, tall boots.

Shoes...Shoes...Shoes!!!

Recently, I have become obsessed with shoes!!!!! Whether its over-the-knee boots or spike heels, I just can't get enough!!! I love tall, black, flat boots for running around the town, because they are so fun and fresh and look absolutely amazing paired with leggings and a cool leather messenger bag! For going out, pair a little winter dress with tights and booties, or a great pair of spike heels and you will be the star of the show. For downtown, funk up your look with glitz, glamour, and sparkle and for uptown, throw on a sophisticated black dress and patent boots and you'll look like you walked off of a page of VOGUE! Have fun with your look and make it extra fabulous with a great pair of SHOES!

JIMMY CHOO FOR H&M!

Compliments toward my favorite principal, Dr. Fecher, for bringing to my attention the crucial situation that is taking over H&M as of november 14. Jimmy Choo is bringing its international shoe, handbag and clothing line to the fabulous clothing store, H&M. As stated in an H&M press release, "It is the first time that H&M is collaborating with an accessories brand, and to celebrate, Jimmy Choo will extend its design vision for this collection to women’s clothing to complement the accessories. Further exciting news is that this collaboration includes a men’s collection of shoes, bags and accessories." I cannot wait to hit the nearest H&M store and scoop up a gorgeous pair of jimmy choo shoes!! The label Jimmy Choo is iconic and timeless and has been seen on red carpets everywhere decorating celebrities such as Hilary Swank, Eva Longoria, Mischa Barton, Nicole Richie and many more! H&M is keeping up with the times by having a high-society designer do a specialized line for their store. It is a fabulous idea that will provide publicity and will bring much-needed revenue into the H&M's all around the country.

Feeling Trippy

I am a huge fan of peace signs and hippy fashion worn in a modernized way that goes along with the trends of the 21st century. I love fabulous t-shirts and sweatshirts with peace sign decals that look great with distressed denim and leggings. I also love incorporating fringe and other "hippy" trends especially with leather bags and boots. While scouring revolve clothing.com, I fell in love with the dreamcatcher tee by ProjectE! It's adorable and so easy to incorporate with items that are already in your wardrobe! A great way to add style and flair to your outfits is to pull items of clothing that are reminiscent of other decades and modernize them into a look that's all your own!

Rockin' out in LaRok!

For fall 2009, LaRok is showing some amazing pieces that will spice up anyone's wardrobe! I absolutely love the black sweater vest with metallic paint splatters for running around the town or dressed up for nighttime! It would look great thrown over a long-sleeved black cotton shirt or even a thin t-shirt in a bright color! It goes perfectly with leggings and leather boots! Also, as the cold weather approaches, the navy parka with reversible fur vest is great for those chilly days and the vest is removable so the jacket can move all the way into spring 2010!

SENECA RISING!

I'm a big fan of the brand Seneca Rising, as seen on celebrities such as Leighton Meester, Lindsay Lohan, and Nicole Richie. They're famous for their amazing, flowing t-shirts and tops and adorable sweaters, in fun colors and prints. I love the arbor tee in peach and the tri-stripe asymmetrical top in black. These tops look fabulous with leggings or skinny jeans thrown with a great pair of boots and cool accessories, such as a headband or bangle bracelets. The navy Brendan tee is awesome as well!! XOXO

Fashionista Feature: Maureen!

Once in a while I like to do a feature on a friend who I think looks especially stylish and cute and this week's fashionista is Maureen! She looks adorable in her denim leggings paired with an amazing flowing tunic and grey suede boots! Her color palette of grays, purples and blues is perfect and the contrast between the slim leggings and the flowing top is just the right balance. Check her out!

Love, your dear friend, leather

From leather purses to bags to shoes to jewelry, leather has taken center stage for fall 2009. I loooveeee the leather over-the-knee boots that are all over the runways and fashion magazines. Throwing a soft leather bag with leggings and tall black leather boots is a great look for going out. You can dress this look down with a cute t-shirt for running around the town. I'm lovin' the leather wrap bracelets with studs that look amazing with a cute tunic and distressed denim. Leather has been our friend for many years so don't let it down!! XOXO

It's a new year so try a new look. If your style is more preppy, add a little funk to it with a bright color or print. If you're a hippy chick, pair your fringe and peace signs with a sophisticated dark denim to add highlight to your outfit. Whatever style, fuse you looks with new, fun, exciting pieces for fall 2009!!! I've posted two looks that are great for class! Fall Ahead!

A new color for fall emerging onto the fashion scene is this amazing, deep purple. We've seen this color before but not quite so rich and vibrant! This color has been shown with everything from t-shirts to sweaters to skirts to handbags. I love this color in a yummy cashmere sweater paired with dark skinny jeans and a brown leather boot. Throw a suede bag over your shoulder and your look is complete!!

Love Is In the Air, Oops, It's just Wildox!!

I'm crazy for WildFox! I bought the Heart Slip Dress in both colors! First I bought the grey/black heart dress and absolutely fell in love with it!!! I wore it a bunch of times and, while shopping one day at the Scoop NYC in Atlantic City, I came across the same dress in melon/black! I had to get it. It was love at first sight. Besides the adorable heart print on the front, it was incredibly soft and just fell on my body in the absolutely perfect way! Now I have both and wear them all the time so I suggest you do the same!

Still In the City!

If you want to learn how to dress, the streets of Manhattan is where it's at. No one does fashion like the city girls. Everyone looks so well dressed, put together, stylish, sophisticated, need I say more? It is a fashionistas dream. If you ever have a chance to spend a summer in Manhattan, definitely take advantage of it. Of course you have your Upper-East-Sider-Blair Waldorf look-a-likes with their gorgeous headbands from Bendel's and their Mui Mui handbags slung across their bodies. They are stylish and sophisticated without looking the least bit fazed. We can't forget the funky Soho crowd with their amazing vintage-inspired dresses and leggings with their Do-It-Yourself bags and belts. They have a fashion sense unlike any other. I can't forget to mention the Upper-West-Siders casual yet funky dress composed of ripped jeans and amazing tunics. One day I was walking down Columbus Avenue around 72nd and I saw a girl coming out of Olive and Bettes wearing the most adorable oversized T-shirt with a tiger on it by Wildfox (yes, I looked it up online!) and black leggings with funky boots. She was the epitome of style and flair and I just loved everything about her outfit. Their are many more areas of Manhattan that I didn't mention but, trust me, they don't go unnoticed!

NYC Fashion!

Im currently doing an internship in New York City and LOVING IT!!! The fashion scene is incredible and the pulse of the city influences everything from the shoes to the handbags to the denim pants. I'm working at a fashion showroom so I can get a behind-the-scenes look at fashion and the upcoming trends. One type of denim that will definitely come into play in the early fall is the colored jean. I love the Highlighter Yellow! Its so fun and cool by Denim of Virtue! The electric blue or turquoise are all good choices. Pair them with a fun T-shirt or tunic and you will be look so fun and fresh moving into fall!

Boots in the...Summer?

Many fashionistas think that boots are reserved for only those cold winter months of December to March - Wrong!! A new trend to emerge on the fashion scene is Spring and Summer booties. I absolutely love this idea because some dresses just look better with boots! Am I right? I love pairing a flirty summer floral-print dress with adorable heeled booties in a summer fabric preferably in a bold color like fuschia or melon or even a rich purple! Fringe is also big right now so play up a fringe booty with a small suede clutch and it will be just right without being too much!! I'm loving the Jeffrey Campbell Moccasin or the Candela NYC Studded Robin Boot on Urban Outfitters.com! The Candela boot I love especially because it just looks so amazing thrown with a funky dress for going out or a tight black mini skirt for running around the town. The Juxtapose between the hard-funkiness of the boot and the flowing feminine summer dress has just the right flair! Have fun with your look and enjoy the summer fashions!

Zip It Up!

Zip⋅per [Zip-er] n. 1) Also called a slide fastener, a device used for fastening clothing, valises, etc., consisting of two toothed tracks or spiral metal or plastic coils, each bordering one of two edges to be joined, and a piece that either interlocks or separates them when pulled. 2) A unique fashion trend.

The zipper has been transformed from a functional piece of clothing to one of decadence and style. One will no longer find this interesting piece of function only among racks of jackets and coats. Now, lets say, a fashionista might find this piece of iconography slashed across a gorgeous leather bag (preferably by J.J. Winters!) or adorned on a sandal as seen on the BCBG Flat for spring. A new trend to emerge for zippers appears on tank tops, leggings, purses, shoes, belts and jewelry! You can never have too many zippers. They have become a staple in one’s wardrobe and have been splashed across page six, the urban outfitters catalogue and many department store look books. Zippers have popped up in a multitude of designer’s collections for spring 2009 and going into fall 2009. Some of my personal favorites pictured below!

Shop these items at Urban Outfitters, JJ WInters and BCBG!!!
